The Prosess
For this project, I wanted to build a desk with a shelving as storage on one side in a "S" style configuration. After I got the wood required, I had it a couple of pieces of wood to be used in the creation of the shelving. Next, I had to create and edit a the images below to be used as a vinyl or a laser engraved design on the vertical parts of the shelving. It took about three hours in total to complete the engraving portion of this project and another 30-45 minutes to complete the vinyl. After doing this, I took my materials home to finish the building phase of this project. Once I was done with that, I went on to sanding all of the surfaces with a vibrating sander and normal sand paper. I had a lot of fun building this projet and i think that it could have been better if I had given myself more time to make it better than it is now.

The Summery
This semester, I learned how to properly use Adobe Illustrator to it's full potential. I had used Illustrator before now and was somewhat familiar with it's capabilities but this semester, after having a chance to really play with software, I was able to do a lot more with it than I ever had before. I was very surprised at the size of some of the documents that it was loading up and able to edit successfully. I was also surprised at the amount of things that it was able to do and handle. I think that part of it was the PCs doing but I was still impressed by its overall power.
Not only this but I also learned the basics of building things made from wood products and it ended up being much more than what I had originally thought. I am very thankful that I was able to learn this and be able to do it very quickly. With the exception of a couple of screws going out of the wood, I had it together with a little help from my dad to hold things steady.
By far the most meaningful thing that I learned during the course of this semester was to always do things . For now, my desk is done but I will most likely improve it over the corse of the summer but had I used my tie better in class, I would have been able to do what can now and much more besides due to the lack of equipment I have at home. I really need to take what I learned and use it to become a much better student during my Sophomore year.
